The Roman Catholic Church’s False Gospel

What is the Gospel?

The Bible says that it is the power of God unto Salvation… (Romans 1:16) Therefore, a church's "gospel" is what that church teaches about how people receive Salvation-how they are saved from sins and get to heaven.

The Roman Catholic Church teaches a false gospel:

Its gospel is the very opposite of the Bible's Gospel.  I will prove that to you here.  (Please remember: I am not being unkind to Roman Catholics. I am telling them the truth from the Bible so that they can be saved and go to heaven when they die.  It's the Roman Catholic Church that is unkind to Catholics because it willfully keeps them in darkness by teaching false doctrine, which is totally unsupported by the Bible, that leaves Catholics bound by Satan, lost in their sins, and doomed to eternal hell.)

All of the quotes used in this article come directly from the Roman Catholic Catechism

You can verify this for yourself: Just  look up each of the following doctrines using the current Roman Catholic Catechism online. You just need to copy and paste the paragraph numbers, which will be listed below, into the search box on the Catechism web site. You can simply click here to go to the Roman Catholic Catechism web site)

The Roman Catholic Catechism is published and distributed by the Roman Catholic Church and is considered authoritative regarding Catholic doctrine.  One Roman Catholic Source said, “ …The essence of our Roman Catholic Church is enshrined in the CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH (Latest Edition 1997), which comprehensively presents the true Deposit of Faith proclaimed by God's Revelation” (http://www.catholicmediacoalition.org/catechism%20orlando.htm).

Proof that the Roman Catholic Church’s Gospel is False:

I.  The Roman Catholic Church's gospel is FALSE because it teaches that baptism saves:

1272* Incorporated into Christ by Baptism, the person baptized is configured to Christ. Baptism seals the Christian with the indelible spiritual mark (character) of his belonging to Christ. No sin can erase this mark, even if sin prevents Baptism from bearing the fruits of salvation. Given once for all, Baptism cannot be repeated.

1257 The Lord himself affirms that Baptism is necessary for salvation. …The Church does not know of any means other than Baptism that assures entry into eternal beatitude; this is why she takes care not to neglect the mission she has received from the Lord to see that all who can be baptized are "reborn of water and the Spirit." God has bound salvation to the sacrament of Baptism, but he himself is not bound by his sacraments.

1213 Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; …Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word."

I. The Bible does NOT teach that Baptism Saves.  In this section, I will use the truth from the Bible to refute the Roman Catholic Church's false doctrine about baptism:

The Bible says: The sinner can only be saved one way. His sins, which are many, must be atoned for (paid for).  For baptism to save, it must have the power to wash away sins, but the Bible tells us that only ONE thing can wash away sins! The following verses constitute only a small portion of proof from the Bible that could be marshaled to prove that sins are washed away only by the blood of Jesus Christ.

And from Jesus Christ the faithful witness and first begotten of the dead who washed us from our sins in his own blood (Revelation 1:5).

Wherefore Jesus also that he might sanctify the people with his own blood suffered without the camp (Hebrews 13:12 ).

And almost all things are by the law purged with blood: and without shedding of blood is no remission (Hebrews 9:22 ).

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot (I Peter 1:18-19)

But now in Christ Jesus, ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13).

II. The Roman Catholic Church's gospel is FALSE because it teaches that we can save ourselves and others through works:

980 It is through the sacrament of Penance that the baptized can be reconciled with God and with the Church: …"a laborious kind of baptism." This sacrament of Penance is necessary for salvation for those who have fallen after Baptism…

1479 Since the faithful departed now being purified are also members of the same communion of saints, one way we can help them is to obtain indulgences for them, so that the temporal punishments due for their sins may be remitted.

1815 The gift of faith remains in one who has not sinned against it. But "faith apart from works is dead": when it is deprived of hope and love, faith does not fully unite the believer to Christ and does not make him a living member of his Body.

1475 In this wonderful exchange, the holiness of one profits others ... Thus recourse to the communion of saints lets the contrite sinner be more promptly and efficaciously purified of the punishments for sin.

II. The Bible does NOT teach that our works can save us.  Therefore, the Roman Catholic Church's doctrine about works is unbiblical and, hence, false. Following, you will find several of the literally dozens of Bible passages that PROVE that works do NOT save:

The Bible says: If we rely upon works (either our own or those of anyone other than Jesus Christ) to save us from our sins, we only earn further condemnation (This means we make our situation WORSE with God by trying to earn salvation by our own works; our debt before God only grows larger).

Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.  But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.  (Romans 4:2-5).

But Israel which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore?  Because they sought it not by faith but as it were by the works of the law… (Romans 9:30?).

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified (Galatians 2:16).

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.  Not of works, lest any man should boast (Eph 2:8-9)

III. The Roman Catholic Church's gospel is false because it uses the Eucharist to offer further sacrifice for sins:

1414 As sacrifice, the Eucharist is also offered in reparation for the sins of the living and the dead and to obtain spiritual or temporal benefits from God.

1689 The Eucharistic Sacrifice. …In the Eucharist, the Church expresses her efficacious communion with the departed:… offering to the Father in the Holy Spirit the sacrifice of the death and resurrection of Christ, she asks to purify his child of his sins and their consequences… It is by the Eucharist… that the community of the faithful, especially the family of the deceased, learn to live in communion with the one who "has fallen asleep in the Lord," by communicating in the Body of Christ…

1367 The sacrifice of Christ and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one single sacrifice: "The victim is one and the same: … only the manner of offering is different." "And since in this divine sacrifice which is celebrated in the Mass, the same Christ who offered himself once in a bloody manner on the altar of the cross is contained and is offered in an unbloody manner. . . this sacrifice is truly propitiatory [has the power to make God ready and able to forgive you of sin]."

III. The Bible does NOT teach that we need to offer up further sacrifice for sins. The Bible could NOT be clearer on this subject.  The Roman Catholic Church knows this and can only support its teaching by playing word games: It states that the Eucharist and Jesus' sacrifice on the cross are "ONE SINGLE SACRIFICE."  In this section, we will examine this important issue in light of the truth of the Bible:

The Bible says: Ye shall know the TRUTH and the TRUTH shall make you free (John 8:32, emphasis added).  We must first of all understand that the Roman Catholic Church is not telling the truth, it is not being honest in its use of terms.  It says that Jesus sacrifice and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are "ONE SINGE SACRIFICE" (1367).  It does not deny that the Eucharist is a sacrifice.  It simply attempts to make its sacrifice, the Eucharist, and God’s sacrifice for sins, Jesus’ death on the cross, the SAME sacrifice. In order for this to really be true, though, the sacrifice of the Eucharist would have to actually be the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of Calvary.  Yet is that the truth?  Are the sacrifice of the Eucharist and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross REALLY the same sacrifice, are they really a SINGLE sacrifice?

We can find this out by a simple comparison:

Based on this comparison, we must conclude that it is impossible for the Eucharist and the actual sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross to be "ONE SINGLE SACRIFICE."  If they are different, then they are not the the same.  We have seen that they are, indeed, very different; therefore, they cannot be the same.  And because they are different, the Roman Catholic Church is offering up another sacrifice, a worthless sacrifice, a pagan sacrifice, which the Bible says is not necessary and which has no power to save whatsoever.

In spite of this, the Roman Catholic Church states that its sacrifice, the Eucharist, is "TRULY PROPITIATORY;" this means that it has the power to make God ready and able to forgive sins, i.e., that God will forgive your sins based on its merit.  The Roman Catholic Church has no Biblical authority for making such a claim.  Their doctrine does not come from God; it comes from man.  The Roman Catholic Church is the source of that doctrine, and it is merely their opinion, and a form of their own man-made religion.  Please, believe the Bible, and look to the true sacrifice, the only sacrifice, which can save you from your sins: This is the Sacrifice that Jesus Christ offered for your sins 2,000 years ago through His death on the cross, and which was accepted by God as the full payment for your sins.  The Roman Catholic Church has no proof that your sins are forgiven on the basis of their Eucharistic sacrifice.  Yet, there is abundant proof that our sins are forgiven on the basis of Jesus’ shed blood on the cross.  Three days after Jesus was crucified, he rose from the dead!  He was seen by more than five hundred eye witnesses (1 Corinthians 15:6).  This is the proof that God has provided us for his sacrifice for our sins.   Again, the Roman Catholic Church can provide no proof.  Who will you believe? God or the Roman Catholic Church?

Also, please don’t be tempted to accept Rome’s sacrifice for sins simply because it has at times been accompanied by signs and wonders.    The Bible says that many will be deceived by false signs and wonders (For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect (Matthew 24:24). The bleeding host is a lying sign and wonder (Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 2 Thessalonians 2:9).  It does not prove that the host has become the actual body of Jesus Christ.  Again, only scientific testing could conclusively prove this.   The fact is, the Eucharist of the Roman Catholic Church has no Biblical (or even scientific) basis. This is the standard by which it should be judged, not by its supernatural manifestations, which Satan is also able to perform.  The signs that accompany the Eucharist must come from Satan and not God because the Eucharist is offered in rebellion against the express will of God, and the Bible says that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:23).  It is no wonder that Satan shows up during the rebellious practice of the Eucharist.  We have biblically examined the sacrifice of the Eucharist.  We have exposed it as false.  If you continue to trust in it, you are endangering your eternal soul.

The Bible says: Only Jesus' actual sacrifice has the power to save.  It alone is sufficient; no other sacrifice is necessary:

By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.  And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.  For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified (Hebrews 10:10-14)

For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God (Romans 6:10 ).

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit (I Peter 3:18).

There is no Biblical basis, proof, or support for the Roman Catholic’s sacrifice of the Eucharist; therefore, it must be rejected as an unbiblical, man-made doctrine with no power to wash away sins.

IV.  The Roman Catholic Church's gospel is false because it teaches that Mary also, rather than Christ ALONE, saves:

494 …As St. Irenaeus says, "Being obedient she became the cause of salvation for herself and for the whole human race."…

969 "... Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us gifts of eternal salvation. ... Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix."

966 "…In giving birth you kept your virginity; in your Dormition you did not leave the world, O Mother of God, but were joined to the source of Life. You conceived the living God and, by your prayers, will deliver our souls from death."

968 Her role in relation to the Church and to all humanity goes still further. "In a wholly singular way she cooperated by her obedience, faith, hope, and burning charity in the Savior's work of restoring supernatural life to souls. For this reason she is a mother to us in the order of grace."

IV. The Roman Catholic Church's False Gospel that Mary Saves Refuted:

The Bible Says: Jesus did NOT need any help saving us from our sins:

[Jesus] Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high (Hebrews 1:3).

Jesus is the ONLY mediator between God and men. NO ONE else can have that role: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;(I Timothy 2:5).

Salvation is only through ONE Savior with only ONE name, Jesus Christ: Neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

Mary is NOT God, and the Bible says that ONLY God is Savior: I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour (Isaiah 43:11).

Mary was a sinner just like every other human being. In the Bible, Mary, herself, admits that she too needed a Savior: And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour (Luke 1:47)

The false Gospel of the Roman Catholic Church does not have the power to save sinners from their sins; it does not have the power to give the gift of eternal life.  I pray that you will believe the Bible, turn away from the Roman Catholic Church and come to Jesus Christ in full repentance, trusting only in His sacrifice on the cross, which he offered for your sins, to save you!  Please click here to read more about the true gospel of Jesus Christ and how to truly get saved.

Jesus Christ’s Sacrifice

The Roman Catholic Church’s Sacrifice of the Eucharist

When it Occurred

Approximately 2,000 years ago

Every single day

How often it Occurred

Only one time

Over and over again

Where it occurred

At a place called Calvary outside of the city walls of Jerusalem

Inside of Roman Catholic Churches in every corner of the globe

How it occurred

Jesus was beaten; a crown of thorns was placed on his head; he was mocked; soldiers cast lots for his garments, Jesus was physically nailed to a cross; He physically suffered in the flesh; He bore the sins of the world in His sinless soul; He physically died. After He died, His side was pierced and blood and water flowed out. (Matthew 27: 35; John 19:34; 2 Corinthians 5:21 )

The priest takes the bread  and wine and speaks some verses from the Bible and claims that the bread and wine have now been transformed into the actual body and blood of Jesus Christ. Then he BREAKS the bread, claiming that the body of Jesus is NOW being broken for you.  It is clear that if the body of Jesus is being broken now (by the priest), it is different sacrifice than that of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Where Jesus was at the time of the sacrifice

Jesus was actually present on the earth in the flesh.  You could see Him, touch Him, speak to Him, and hear Him.  Those who were present actually saw and heard His agony as He died on the cross.

Jesus is NOT physically present.  The actual body of Jesus Christ is now in heaven.  There is no physical proof that the bread and wine actually are Jesus.  You cannot look at them and see the body and blood of Jesus Christ.  The Bible tells us that Jesus is not on the earth right now; He is, in His body, in heaven, seated at the right hand of the Father (Colossians 3:1).  Additionally, scientific testing could be performed on the bread and wine to prove that it is really just ordinary bread and wine and not the physical body of Jesus.

The type of sacrifice it was

It was a BLOODY sacrifice.  The blood of Jesus Christ actually flowed from His wounds on the cross (And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Hebrews 9:22).  A sacrifice offered without blood does not have the power to wash away sins!

.

It is an UNBLOODY sacrifice.  The blood of Jesus Christ is not presently flowing and the body of Jesus is not actually present. The Bible says that are sins are forgiven on the basis of Jesus shed blood ( Romans 5:9; Revelation 1:5).  Without a blood sacrifice, there is no forgiveness.

Did Jesus suffer the wrath of God at the time?

Jesus, because He was bearing the sins of the world, was forsaken of God the Father: And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (Mark 15:34)

The wrath of God was upon Him during the time that He was on the cross because He was bearing the full weight of our sins.  He was paying the penalty for the sins that we have committed and was enduring the wrath of God that we have earned for our sins.

Jesus is in perfect union with the Father.  Jesus is seated at the right  hand of the Father.  The wrath of God is not on Jesus any longer.  When Jesus died on the cross, as He breathed His final breath, He said, It is Finished (John 19:30). God the Father had been satisfied; the cup of God’s wrath had been drunk; the payment for our sins had been made.  There was no more wrath to be born for our sins.   A sacrifice that does not expiate the wrath of God, is not a sufficient sacrifice for sins; Jesus is not suffering the wrath of God during the Roman Catholic Eucharist; therefore, the Roman Catholic Eucharistic sacrifice is a hoax.
